Key Highlights:

There are two Leather Jacket locations in Sons of the Forest: one at the plane crash in the south-west and another inside the Rebreather Cave on the northern coast.
The plane crash is the easier pickup because you can collect the jacket without entering a cave or fighting mutants. The second copy is found on the Stun Gun route inside the Rebreather Cave.
Open your GPS and head towards the crashed aircraft in the south-western part of the island, near the narrow stretch of land below the three small lakes.
Check the dead pilot inside the wreckage to collect the Leather Jacket. You can equip it from your inventory or give it to Kelvin to change his outfit.
To give Kelvin the jacket, interact with him and select Take Item from his notepad commands. Choose the Leather Jacket from the available clothing and hand it over.
The plane crash is the better location if you only want one jacket because there are no cave enemies or progression requirements involved.
The second Leather Jacket is inside the Rebreather Cave on the northern coast.
Break the boards covering the cave entrance with an axe and continue through the tunnels. There are mutants inside, so this route carries considerably more risk than the plane crash.
When the route splits, take the right-hand path towards the Stun Gun. The Leather Jacket is found on this branch near a hanging body.
The Rebreather itself is reached by following the other route deeper into the cave, so you do not need to complete the full Rebreather path just to collect the jacket.
The Leather Jacket has Low-Moderate Warmth, Low-Moderate Comfort and Moderate Water Resistance. That gives it better all-round clothing stats than the Tactical Jacket you start with, although it is not a substitute for clothing designed specifically for sustained cold conditions.
I mainly use it as an early general-purpose outfit when I do not need maximum warmth. You can also give it to Kelvin if you prefer another outfit for your own character.
