IllFonic and Gun Interactive have released a new trailer for Halloween: The Game, offering the best look yet at the title’s single-player experience ahead of its September launch.
While previous footage largely focused on environments and early alpha gameplay, the latest trailer shifts attention to Michael Myers himself. Narrated by Dr. Sam Loomis, it follows the iconic killer as he escapes Smith’s Grove Sanitarium and makes his way back to Haddonfield, recreating the events surrounding John Carpenter’s original 1978 classic.
The campaign spans six chapters and puts players in control of Michael Myers, allowing them to experience his journey before the infamous babysitter murders. Along the way, players will explore familiar and new locations while Dr. Loomis documents his observations of the mysterious killer.
According to IllFonic Chief Creative Officer Jared Gerritzen, the development team worked to faithfully recreate key moments from the original movie.
“Halloween is one of the most iconic horror films ever made, and we knew that bringing it into a game meant earning the right to put players behind that mask,” Gerritzen said.
“We recreated specific shots, leaned into the original score’s DNA, and worked to make Haddonfield feel like the place fans remember.”
Michael Myers’ Story Offers Multiple Ways to Kill
Although the game pays tribute to the 1978 film, it also introduces new scenarios and gives players freedom in how they stalk and eliminate victims.
The campaign adopts a sandbox approach, encouraging stealth and patience. Players can carefully observe targets and strike at the perfect moment, though situations involving police officers may force quicker decisions.
The story also explores previously unseen details surrounding Michael Myers, including how he obtained his signature mask, jumpsuit, and kitchen knife.
Each chapter contains its own set of optional challenges and collectibles. Completing these objectives unlocks additional lore, new execution animations, gameplay scenarios, and exclusive cosmetics that can also be used in multiplayer.
Several difficulty settings will also be available for those seeking a greater challenge.
Multiplayer and Offline Modes Included
Alongside the story mode, Halloween: The Game supports offline play with bots and online multiplayer. The asymmetrical horror title places a heavy emphasis on stealth, strategy, and player choice across all modes.
Digital pre-orders are now live. The Standard Edition costs £34.99, while the £49.99 Deluxe Edition includes the base game, an exclusive Michael Myers skin, additional civilian characters, and other bonuses.
From what I’ve seen, one of the more interesting aspects is that IllFonic and Gun Interactive are treating Michael Myers as more than just a multiplayer villain. The six-chapter campaign appears to be designed as a love letter to the original film, while still giving players freedom to create their own version of the Shape. I cannot wait to try out the Haddonfield Heights map when it goes live too.
Halloween: The Game launches on September 8 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
