PUBG Shows Off New Interactive Smoke System in Action-packed trailer.
PUBG Studios has released a new video highlighting one of the biggest gameplay changes coming to PUBG: Battlegrounds in 2026, and it could have a major impact on how players approach firefights.
The newly showcased Interactive Smoke system transforms smoke grenades from simple visual barriers into dynamic objects that react to the battlefield around them.
In the footage, smoke clouds can be pushed and dispersed by explosions, opening up lines of sight that would normally remain blocked. Rather than sitting motionless, the smoke behaves more naturally, creating constantly changing cover and forcing players to adapt on the fly.
PUBG first revealed plans for Interactive Smoke as part of its 2026 roadmap earlier this year, describing it as one of the largest additions planned for the game. PUBG Studios said the feature is designed to add more tactical depth by making smoke grenades feel like physical entities influenced by environmental factors and combat itself.
The newly released video gives players their clearest look yet at how the mechanic works in practice.
Grenades and other explosive effects can temporarily clear sections of smoke, potentially exposing enemies who thought they were hidden. It also means players using smoke for revives or repositioning may need to think twice before assuming they are completely safe.
The change appears aimed at making encounters less predictable while adding another layer of strategy to one of PUBG’s most commonly used tools.
Interactive Smoke is part of a broader wave of updates planned throughout 2026. PUBG Studios has previously confirmed additional tactical features, including item call-ins at Blue Chip Towers and improvements to existing equipment systems.
Coming to PC June 17, Console June 25, and with the feature now being demonstrated publicly, it seems players may not have to wait too much longer to experience it for themselves.
