Cygames has revealed a closer look at Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok, while also confirming that a playable demo of the base game is now available on PlayStation Store, Nintendo Store and Steam ahead of the expansion’s launch on 9 July 2026.
During a recent hands-on event, the developer showcased many of the expansion’s biggest additions, including a brand-new story chapter, six playable characters, tougher endgame challenges, and a combat overhaul centred around an all-new Summon system.
The expansion introduces Gallanza, Maglielle, Beatrix, Eustace, Fraux, and Fediel as playable characters, while also bringing powerful new boss encounters featuring Beelzebub and The World.
The biggest gameplay change comes through the new Summon mechanic. Rather than simply calling in powerful allies for special attacks, players can temporarily take direct control of summoned primal beasts during combat. Each summon fills a different role, ranging from heavy damage dealers to crowd control specialists, while also granting complete invulnerability for a short period, allowing players to survive some of the game’s deadliest boss attacks.
Another new ability, Primal Burst, adds an even larger spectacle to battles by allowing Lyria to unleash an additional summon attack after specific Skybound Art combinations.
Endless Ragnarok also raises the challenge considerably with the introduction of Chaos difficulty. Available from the opening of the expansion’s storyline, this new quest tier introduces tougher enemies, including the powerful Ragnalia monsters, alongside bosses capable of unleashing devastating EX Burst attacks that demand careful timing and positioning to avoid.
Alongside the new combat systems, Cygames is expanding character progression through the Master Trait system. Every character gains access to additional build options, allowing players to specialise further by enhancing offensive, defensive, or support abilities, creating greater flexibility for different playstyles.
Players looking for a solo challenge will also gain access to Conflux, a new endgame mode built specifically for single-player progression. Each run takes players through a series of randomly generated encounters where temporary buffs are earned between stages, creating a roguelite-style progression system that rewards experimentation and repeat playthroughs while offering valuable materials and high-level equipment.
The expansion also introduces a large interconnected hub filled with optional exploration, hidden secrets, and additional objectives, giving experienced players more reasons to revisit completed areas after finishing the main story.
For players who have yet to experience Granblue Fantasy: Relink, the newly released demo provides an opportunity to try the base game before Endless Ragnarok arrives later this week. It is available on PS4/PS5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam.
I think the new Summon system stands out as the expansion’s defining feature. Giving players direct control over primal beasts changes combat far more than simply adding another powerful ability, while the combination of Chaos difficulty, deeper character builds, and the Conflux mode suggests Cygames is putting a much stronger emphasis on long-term endgame progression than the original release.
