How to Perform Smoke’s Second Fatality in MK1 (Up in Smoke)

Smoke overwhelms his opponent with rapid attacks before finishing them in spectacular fashion using his signature smoke abilities. The combination of disappearing strikes and brutal swordplay makes this one of his most visually impressive Fatalities.

Important: Smoke can also perform the Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Winter Fatalities if they are unlocked on the player’s account. These seasonal Fatalities are not unique to Smoke and can be performed by other playable fighters.

How to Perform Smoke’s Animality in MK1 (Killer Kong)

Smoke transforms into Killer Kong, an enormous silverback gorilla that charges towards the opponent before overpowering them with crushing blows. It’s a fun contrast to Smoke’s agile fighting style and stands out as one of Mortal Kombat 1’s more memorable Animalities.

Smoke Fatal Blow in MK1 (Mistborn Killer)

Execution Difficulty: Very Easy

• PlayStation: L2 + R2
• Xbox: LT + RT
• Nintendo Switch: ZL + ZR

Although it isn’t a finisher, Mistborn Killer is capable of turning the tide of a close fight thanks to its high damage. I found it works best after punishing an unsafe attack rather than throwing it out randomly, giving opponents less opportunity to block or counter.

Note: Smoke’s Fatal Blow, Mistborn Killer, becomes available once his health drops below 30%.

All Smoke Brutalities in MK1

Smoke’s Brutalities require specific final hits and execution conditions to trigger. His five character-specific Brutalities are unlocked through Fighter Mastery at Ranks 3, 5, 7, 10, and 15, while The Klassic is available by default.

The Advanced View in the Finishers section of the Move List displays the additional requirement for each unlocked Brutality. These conditions can include holding a button, pressing a directional input, or ending the match with a specific move.

Additional Condition: Hold 2 during the final hit.

Final Hit: Assassin’s Judgement
Additional Condition: Hold Down during the final hit.

If It Bleeds

Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 5

• Hold RT / R2 / ZR during the final hit.

Final Hit: Vicious Vapors
Additional Condition: Hold R2 on PlayStation, RT on Xbox, or ZR on Nintendo Switch during the final hit.

Don’t Blink

Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 7

• Hold ⬆️ during the final hit.

Final Hit: Smoke Bomb
Additional Condition: Hold Up during the final hit.

Slice And Dice

Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 10

• Hold ⬆️ during the final hit.

Final Hit: Kutting-Room Floor
Additional Condition: Hold Up during the final hit.

Break A Leg

Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 15

Final Hit: Missing The Toes

Seasonal Store Brutalities

Smoke can also perform Brutalities acquired as seasonal items through the Seasonal Store. These Brutalities are separate from his character-specific Fighter Mastery unlocks and remain available as recurring Seasonal Store items.

Final Hit: Twisted Kyo (⬇️⬅️ + 2)
Additional Condition: Hold 1 during the final hit.

Light This Candle

Unlock Requirement: Seasonal Store

Final Hit: Demonic Slam Air Kombo (⬆️/➡️ + 2, Throw)
Additional Condition: Press ⬇️⬇️⬇️ during the final hit.

Additional Button Reference

Universal number notation allows the same Fatality, Animality, and Brutality inputs to be read across different controller layouts without changing the underlying command.
