Smoke has remained one of Mortal Kombat’s most popular ninjas since his debut, returning in Mortal Kombat 1 as a swift and elusive member of the Lin Kuei. Fighting alongside Sub-Zero, he blends lightning-fast sword attacks with smoke-based teleportation, allowing him to confuse opponents before delivering devastating finishers.
This guide covers every one of Smoke’s finishers in Mortal Kombat 1, including Fatalities, Animality, Fatal Blow, and Brutalities. I’ve also included execution tips and platform-specific inputs to help you perform them consistently, whether you’re playing on PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch.
How to Perform Smoke’s First Fatality in MK1 (Hazed and Infused)

Type: Any Range
- PlayStation: ⬅️➡️⬇️1
- Xbox: ⬅️➡️⬇️X
- Nintendo Switch: ⬅️➡️⬇️Y
Smoke engulfs his opponent in a thick cloud before violently carving through them with his blades. As the smoke clears, the victim is left in gruesome pieces, showcasing the assassin’s speed and precision. Because this Fatality works from anywhere on the stage, it is one of the easiest finishers in the roster to execute consistently.
How to Perform Smoke’s Second Fatality in MK1

Type: Any Range
- PlayStation: ⬇️➡️⬅️🔺
- Xbox: ⬇️➡️⬅️Y
- Nintendo Switch: ⬇️➡️⬅️X
Smoke overwhelms his opponent with rapid attacks before finishing them in spectacular fashion using his signature smoke abilities. The combination of disappearing strikes and brutal swordplay makes this one of his most visually impressive Fatalities.
Important: Smoke can also perform seasonal finishers, including the Winter, Halloween, and Thanksgiving Fatalities, provided you’ve unlocked them.
How to Perform Smoke’s Animality in MK1 (Killer Kong)

Type: Mid-Range
- PlayStation: ⬇️➡️⬇️R2
- Xbox: ⬇️➡️⬇️RT
- Nintendo Switch: ⬇️➡️⬇️ZR
Smoke transforms into Killer Kong, an enormous silverback gorilla that charges towards the opponent before overpowering them with crushing blows. It’s a fun contrast to Smoke’s agile fighting style and stands out as one of Mortal Kombat 1’s more memorable Animalities.
Smoke Fatal Blow in MK1 (Mistborn Killer)
Smoke’s Fatal Blow, Mistborn Killer, becomes available once your health drops below the Fatal Blow threshold.
- PlayStation: L2 + R2
- Xbox: LT + RT
- Nintendo Switch: ZL + ZR
Although it isn’t a finisher, Mistborn Killer is capable of turning the tide of a close fight thanks to its high damage. I found it works best after punishing an unsafe attack rather than throwing it out randomly, giving opponents less opportunity to block or counter.

MK1 Smoke Video Guide
If you’d rather watch Smoke’s finishers before trying them yourself, the video below demonstrates both Fatalities, his Animality, and additional gameplay footage to help with timing and positioning.
Smoke’s calm demeanour and mastery of deception make him one of the Lin Kuei’s most distinctive fighters. His close ties to Sub-Zero and Scorpion, together with his long-standing connections to characters such as Noob Saibot and Quan Chi, have made him a recurring favourite throughout the series. Once you’ve mastered Smoke’s finishers, be sure to explore those characters’ guides to see how their finishing moves compare and to expand your Mortal Kombat 1 arsenal.
