The package gives new players access to the main campaign and the paid story expansion without buying them separately.

What Is Included in Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition?

Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition contains three main components:

  • Resident Evil 4
  • Separate Ways
  • Extra DLC Pack

Separate Ways follows Ada Wong during events that run alongside Leon S. Kennedy’s main campaign.

Capcom originally released the expansion in September 2023 after formally announcing the Separate Ways DLC shortly before launch.

A Separate Ways launch trailer followed ahead of the expansion’s 21 September release.

The Extra DLC Pack adds Leon and Ashley costumes, the Sentinel Nine and Skull Shaker weapons, an Original Version soundtrack swap and the Treasure Map: Expansion.

Gamers will get an additional downloadable content pack

The Gold Edition does not bundle The Mercenaries as one of its included paid components. The mode remains available separately as a free download.

Players who already own Resident Evil 4 can also purchase Separate Ways and the Extra DLC Pack individually, so the Gold Edition mainly serves as an all-in-one purchase for new owners.

Physical and Digital Versions Work Differently

The digital Gold Edition combines the base game and included downloadable content under one purchase.

On physical PlayStation copies, the Resident Evil 4 game itself is supplied on disc, while Separate Ways and the Extra DLC Pack are redeemed using a product code included in the package.

That means an internet connection is required to redeem the additional content on those physical editions.

The Standard Edition and Gold Edition also share the same trophy set because Gold Edition is a bundle of the original game and its additional DLC rather than a separate version of Resident Evil 4.

Resident Evil 4 had already passed six million worldwide sales before the Gold Edition arrived. Capcom later reported that the remake reached seven million units in March 2024 and eventually became the fastest Resident Evil game to surpass 10 million sales.

The Gold Edition extended that post-launch lifecycle by packaging the main game with its largest paid expansion and Deluxe Edition extras in a single release.
