Street Fighter 6 Welcomes Psycho-Powered Pugilist Ed Later This Month
The latest DLC character coming to Street Fighter 6 at the end of February is none other than troubled boxing prodigy Ed. The psycho-powered brawler first appeared in 2016’s Street Fighter V and now makes his return with an upgraded moveset and visual design.
Owners of the Year 1 Character Pass and other editions will gain access to Ed on February 27th, alongside a new stage called Ruined Lab. His arrival also coincides with some welcomed quality of life improvements to the game. Two new trailers for the character were released which you can view below.
Upgraded Look and Abilities Showcased in New Trailer
According to SF6 director Takayuki Nakayama, Ed’s animations and attacks have changed significantly from his last appearance. The team focused on highlighting his nimble footwork and impactful punches, while still respecting his pugilist background.
His psycho-charged special moves now offer more variations for controlling space and extending combos. And his Level 3 Super Art turns the opponent into his own personal punching bag.
A common question from fans was how Ed would function in SF6, since his Street Fighter V moveset utilised simplified inputs. As Nakayama explained, the developers kept his simplified Modern Control inputs intact, while also expanding his moves to feature classic quarter-circle and dragon punch motions.
This allows Ed to appeal to beginners and veterans alike when he enters the fray at the end of the month. Players can utilise his easy commands or take advantage of new techniques enabled by the Classic Control scheme.
Part of Ongoing DLC Roadmap

The arrival of Ed on February 27th comes three years after his last Street Fighter appearance in SFV. He joins recent additions like Rashid and the enigmatic A.K.I. who’ve become the latest additions to the roster, promising diverse fighting styles and fresh challenges for their opponents.
Additionally, the seasoned warrior Akuma has been announced as the final character for Season 1, poised for a release in the spring of 2024.
Owners of the Character Pass or Deluxe Editions will instantly unlock Ed later this month across all versions of Street Fighter 6. Everyone else can purchase him separately after a brief exclusivity window expires.
Quality of Life Changes
In addition to Ed and the new Ruined Lab stage, the end of February update introduces helpful quality of life adjustments. The PC port adds the option to display PlayStation button prompts. An extra lighting feature has also been added to Photo Mode.
With Ed, the Beat ‘Em Up’s roster continues evolving beyond its initial launch lineup. The psycho-powered pugilist brings his own distinct style and moveset that bolsters the playable fighter variety. His return kicks off another exciting year of DLC for Capcom’s premier fighting series.
