Resident Evil Cast Reunion: Unveiling Memories and Future Projects
In an exciting development for Resident Evil fans, director Andrew Saullo has orchestrated a reunion of the original game’s cast members.
This gathering brought together Charlie Kraslavsky (Chris Redfield), Greg Smith (Barry Burton), Eric Pirius (Albert Wesker), and, in a surprise appearance, Linda, the actress who portrayed Rebecca Chambers.
The event, hosted by Residence of Evil founder JJ Trulock, offered a nostalgic journey into the making of the iconic horror game’s live-action scenes.
Linda’s First Public Appearance with Castmates
Linda’s presence at the reunion was particularly noteworthy, as it marked her first public appearance with her former castmates since the game’s production.
Her recollections provided fresh insights into the filming process, painting a vivid picture of the unique challenges faced by the actors.
Describing her experience on set, Linda shared:
“It was a big day and a wild shoot. It was very different from anything else I had been doing in Japan at the time when I was modelling. I think it left a really big impact on me as a young girl.”
She went on to recount a humorous incident that highlighted the unconventional nature of the production:
“I remember when I got there, I was so used to having really lovely makeup on for my shoots. The makeup artist, when she was done with my makeup and hair, took me outside and asked, ‘Can you roll around in the dirt?'”.
This anecdote underscores the stark contrast between Linda’s previous modelling work and the gritty realism required for Resident Evil.
The scale of the production also left a lasting impression on Linda:
“When we got on set, I got to meet you guys, and there was a helicopter and a whole lot of everything going on,” she recalled. “I remember it was a long day. We were there for a long time, but I didn’t know what it was for, no idea.”
The language barrier and the unique storytelling approach of the Japanese production team added another layer of complexity to the shoot. Linda explained:
“I remember looking at the storyboards to try and make sense of things, but of course, it didn’t help at all. Even directions weren’t very clear. It was Japan, so not everyone spoke English well, and you kind of just went with it.”
Fan-Made Web Series in the Works
Beyond the nostalgic reminiscences, the reunion also served as a platform for an exciting announcement.
Andrew Saullo revealed plans for a four-part fan-made web series, featuring all four of the original actors reprising their roles.
While not an official Resident Evil production due to copyright considerations with Capcom, this project promises to be a treat for long-time fans of the franchise.
Saullo, known for directing the fan-made short film “The Keeper’s Diary,” will be at the helm of this new series.
The project is set to be crowdfunded, with the campaign launch expected in the near future.
This reunion and the announcement of the web series represent a unique convergence of gaming history and fan creativity.
It offers long-time Resident Evil enthusiasts a chance to reconnect with the original cast while looking forward to new content that honours the spirit of the beloved franchise.
The upcoming web series, blending nostalgia with new storytelling, stands as a testament to the ongoing legacy of Resident Evil and its ability to inspire creativity more than two decades after its initial release.
