This marks the end of a long legal dispute between Epic Games and Apple, a battle that saw the hit battle royale title pulled from Apple’s platform back in 2020.
The decision to reinstate the game follows a court ruling in Epic’s favour and is being welcomed by players who previously lost mobile access. Then, just the other day as of this writing, the BR title was unavailable worldwide on iOS devices. It seems this matter has been resolved between the two massive companies as Epic tweeted out the following:
How US Players Can Download Fortnite on iOS
For players based in the United States, accessing Fortnite is straightforward:
- Open the App Store.
- Search for Fortnite.
- Tap Get to begin the download.
After downloading, a large in-game update (13GB) may be required before playing. Once installed, Fortnite supports full cross-platform play, including progress syncing and cosmetic transfers between mobile, console, and PC.
EU Access Through the Epic Games Store
Players in the European Union must follow a different process. Instead of downloading Fortnite directly, they need to:
- Download the Epic Games Store app from the App Store.
- Sign in with their Epic Games account.
- Download Fortnite from within the app.
This method is in line with new digital regulations in the EU that allow alternative app marketplaces. For those seeking additional flexibility, sideloading via AltStore remains an option, although it requires extra steps and isn’t officially endorsed.
Current Limitations in the UK and Other Regions
At present, Fortnite remains unavailable via the App Store in the UK, Canada, Australia, and several other regions.
The app listings for both Fortnite and the Epic Games Store are absent in these territories, with no official word on when support might expand.
Workaround Using Xbox Cloud Gaming
Mobile players outside supported territories aren’t entirely left out.
Fortnite remains accessible through Xbox Cloud Gaming, which enables cloud-based play via a mobile browser.
This method does not require app installation and still offers full controller and cross-play support:
- Visit Xbox Cloud Gaming on Safari.
- Sign in with a Microsoft account.
- Launch Fortnite and play via streaming.
This return to iOS marks a significant moment for Fortnite’s ongoing expansion.
Reclaiming its position on one of the most popular mobile platforms could restore a large portion of the player base, particularly younger users without access to consoles or PCs.
