Sega fans have a limited-time opportunity to secure nine classic titles for free before they disappear from mobile storefronts.
The affected games are all part of the Sega Forever initiative, which began in 2017 as a way to bring iconic Sega games to iOS and Android devices with minimal cost to the player, supported via ads.
These games are now being quietly delisted, though Sega has not specified when the takedowns will be final.
Among the games set for removal are Crazy Taxi Classic, Golden Axe Classics, Shining Force Classics, Sonic CD Classic, and Virtua Tennis Challenge. Also included are Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2, Super Monkey Ball: Sakura Edition, and the first two Streets of Rage titles.
In-app notifications confirming their upcoming removal have recently gone live, sparking urgency among fans to claim them while still available.
Players who download the titles now can keep them permanently, even after they vanish from the App Store or Google Play.
While ad support may be dropped once the games are delisted, Sega has not confirmed whether the monetisation layer will continue.
Historically, the company rarely delists mobile games en masse, which makes this event particularly notable – especially since some of the titles, like Virtua Tennis Challenge, still maintain strong download rankings.

Although the rationale behind this mass delisting hasn’t been officially stated, the timing coincides with Sega’s broader shift toward reimagining its classic IPs.
With remakes of Jet Set Radio, Shinobi and others in development, this could be part of a strategic repositioning ahead of future announcements.
The Crazy Taxi reboot in-particular is interesting, as it is set to get the AAA treatment and have an open-world environment.
For now, fans should act quickly. Adding these mobile classics to your digital library while they remain free could be the only way to preserve access once Sega removes them from circulation permanently.
