Key Highlights:

  • Final HCS season for Halo Infinite concludes October 24–26, 2025.
  • No official HCS support in 2026, but limited tournament activity continues.
  • Next major Halo esports title not expected until after 2026.

Halo Studios has confirmed that Halo Infinite will be stepping down from official esports competition following the Halo World Championship 2025, scheduled for 24–26 October in Seattle. This event will mark the final chapter of Halo Infinite’s involvement in the Halo Championship Series (HCS), ending a four-year run that began with the game’s 2021 launch.

In a recent blog post, Esports and Viewership Lead Tahir “Tashi” Hasandjekic described the 2025 season as a celebration of everything Infinite has brought to Halo’s competitive ecosystem.

While Infinite will still receive backend support and light tournament organisation in 2026 – including prize-backed online and LAN events – the title will no longer serve as the platform for official HCS events.

The move signals a shift in focus at Halo Studios as the they prepare for what it calls the “next era of Halo.” While no new Halo title has been officially unveiled, Tashi hinted that players can expect new information at HaloWC 2025, suggesting the event may not only crown a champion, but also preview the franchise’s future direction.

Until then, the HCS has two Majors remaining, Salt Lake City and Charlotte, before the competitive calendar concludes with the October finals.

The 2025 Halo World Championship will also include MVP awards for both the final year and the entirety of Infinite’s four-season run.

Halo Infinite’s HCS lifespan is the longest of any game in the franchise’s competitive history. According to the studio, this durability reflects both the commitment of players and the studio’s evolving infrastructure for competitive play.

Though the HCS is going dark in 2026 for official esports, Halo Studios has pledged to keep the broader community engaged with Halo’s 25th anniversary, which also falls next year. That celebration, coupled with what appears to be groundwork for a new competitive platform, points to a pivotal moment in the series’ long-running legacy.

I will not make it in-person to the majors at Salt Lake City and Charlotte, but i will be watching all the action unfold on the official Halo Esports YouTube channel. Will you be going?
