Larian Studios has pushed out a surprise Baldur’s Gate 3 update, proving that even without new content planned for 2025, the studio is still fine-tuning the RPG. Hotfix 35 is a small patch, but it lands with meaningful stability fixes and one major upgrade for Steam Deck players.

The update is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Most of the work goes into crash prevention. A freeze on PS5 linked to the L2 button is now fixed, while Xbox players should no longer see crashes when clients leave or suspend during multiplayer sessions. Mac and Steam Deck users also get stability improvements for crafting saves and cross-play.
The biggest gain sits firmly with the Steam Deck. Larian has boosted the default upscaling method from FSR 1 to FSR 2.2, which noticeably sharpens the game’s presentation on Valve’s handheld. When I tested this on a friend’s handheld, the loading times are now snappier on the native build, and external controller issues tied to Desktop Mode have finally been resolved. If you’ve been considering a BG3 playthrough on the Deck, this hotfix makes that option far more appealing.
