2K has pulled back the curtain on the Attitude Era Edition of WWE 2K26, confirming that the fan-favourite era of late-90s / early-2000s wrestling will be front and centre again this year. The reveal landed via a short teaser trailer that flashes a long list of era-defining names including Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, Masked Kane, The Undertaker, Trish Stratus, Lita, Kurt Angle and more. Pre-orders go live on 30 January, with the full game expected to launch in March.
The trailer doesn’t spell out the exact bonuses included with the Attitude Era Edition, but the tone is pretty clear: this version is built for the fans who consider that period to be WWE’s peak. The clip even highlights Undertaker vs Mankind’s infamous 1998 Hell in a Cell moment, which suggests 2K is thinking about recreating specific matches, showcases or themed content rather than just cosmetic perks. Stone Cold gets plenty of screen time as well, hinting he may receive special treatment in the roster or Showcase features.
If you’ve been playing these games for a while, the parallels are obvious. WWE 13 built its entire identity around the Attitude Era, with a dedicated mode that retold major storylines and matches. There was even a Phenom Edition focused heavily on The Undertaker the next year in WWE 2K14.. In my view, 2K choosing the Attitude Era again makes sense for 2K26: it’s nostalgia-friendly, stacked with marketable superstars, and it gives them a proven theme to build a collector’s edition around.
The fan reaction so far reflects that. One of the most common talking points is whether this will bring back a full Attitude Era Showcase similar to WWE 13, rather than just cosmetic DLC or an artbook. Others are hoping the edition signals a deeper push into that roster without over-relying on paywalls. The trailer also quietly confirms Masked Kane and what looks like a Ministry of Darkness-era Undertaker, which are both variants players have been requesting for years. Little details like Kurt Angle with hair make the world of difference too.
Outside of the Attitude Era content, leaks suggest WWE 2K26 will also feature a new Showcase mode centred on CM Punk. That would give the game a modern counterpart to balance out the heavy nostalgia. There’s also a rumoured Monday Night War edition coming in the near future too. Meanwhile, 2K26’s confirmed roster already includes names from today’s product, such as Asuka, Kofi Kingston, Myles Borne and Zaria.
With pre-orders opening at the end of the month, we shouldn’t have to wait long to find out what the Attitude Era Edition actually includes. The safe bet is some combination of early access, exclusive skins, arenas and Showcase content. The real question is whether 2K leans as hard into Attitude storytelling as WWE 13 once did, because that’s the standard fans will compare it against.
