Key Highlights:
- Both Remothered games are currently free to claim on PC.
- Broken Porcelain is free on GOG, while Tormented Fathers is available through Steam.
- The giveaways celebrate the announcement of Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy.
PC players have a limited opportunity to add both entries in Stormind Games’ Remothered series to their libraries for free.
The giveaways come ahead of the recently announced Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy, giving horror fans the chance to experience the franchise before its next chapter arrives.
Remothered: Tormented Fathers is currently available through Steam’s Free-to-Keep promotion, while Remothered: Broken Porcelain can be claimed free of charge on GOG. The latter is only available for a short time, expiring on June 8, making it the more urgent of the two offers.
Unlike many giveaways, Broken Porcelain is also completely DRM-free through GOG.
Released in 2020, Remothered: Broken Porcelain follows Jennifer, a young woman trapped inside the mysterious Ashmann Inn. The third-person survival horror title builds on the events of Tormented Fathers while also serving as a companion piece that expands the wider lore and revisits returning characters.
Players can expect stealth, puzzles, item hunting, and relentless enemies similar to Resident Evil’s Nemesis. The game also places a strong emphasis on psychological horror, with survival often depending on knowing when to hide, flee, or fight back.
Although Broken Porcelain received criticism for technical issues when it launched, many of those problems have since been addressed, allowing players to better appreciate its atmosphere, soundtrack, and ambitious story.
Meanwhile, Remothered: Tormented Fathers serves as the starting point of the trilogy and follows Rosemary Reed as she investigates the disappearance of a young girl named Celeste. What begins as a simple inquiry soon turns into a nightmare involving Richard Felton, his caretaker Gloria, and a web of dark secrets.
The first game places heavy emphasis on stealth and strategy, allowing players to deceive stalkers, block off areas, or fight back depending on the situation. Rather than using traditional health bars, players must rely on visual cues to judge their condition, adding to the tension.
One of the series’ strongest elements is its cinematic presentation. Creator Chris Darril designed the games to feel like interactive horror films, complete with realistic environments and movie-inspired storytelling.
The soundtrack also stands out. Tormented Fathers features music from Nobuko Toda, whose previous work includes Final Fantasy, Halo, and Metal Gear Solid, alongside composer Luca Balboni, who returned for Broken Porcelain.
Broken Porcelain expanded the formula with fully animated real-time cinematics, more detailed storytelling, and new gameplay mechanics. The Ashmann Inn itself acts almost as another character, hiding resources, secrets, and dangers behind every corner.
From my perspective, fans of classic survival horror should seriously consider grabbing both games while they can. The series clearly draws inspiration from Resident Evil and Clock Tower, and while it may not have reached the same heights, it’s hard to argue with the price of free.
With Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy on the horizon, now is arguably the best time to discover one of horror gaming’s more overlooked franchises.
