Key Highlights:
- Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced sold 2 million copies within its first 24 hours.
- Ubisoft shared a direct sales figure instead of its usual player or engagement metrics.
- The remake has become one of the fastest-selling launches in the franchise’s history.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has reached a major launch milestone, with Ubisoft confirming the remake sold more than 2 million copies during its first 24 hours on sale.
Released on 9 July 2026 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, the remake has quickly established itself as one of the fastest-selling entries in the long-running Assassin’s Creed series. The achievement is particularly notable because Ubisoft chose to announce a straightforward sales figure rather than its more common launch metrics, which typically focus on player numbers, engagement or revenue.
The publisher said the 2M copies represent combined sales across all three platforms. While Ubisoft has not revealed a platform-by-platform breakdown, the game has climbed to the top of PlayStation and Xbox sales charts in several major markets, including the UK and US. It has also reached the top of Steam’s Top Sellers chart, reflecting strong demand across every platform.
The milestone places Black Flag Resynced among the biggest publicly disclosed launches in the franchise’s 19-year history. Although Ubisoft has historically reported a mixture of sales, shipments, player counts and revenue figures, making direct comparisons difficult, the remake’s opening day already surpasses the 1.6 million copies sold by Assassin’s Creed 2 during its first week. It has also achieved more than half of Assassin’s Creed 3’s reported 3.5 million first-week sales in just a single day.
Despite the impressive start, Black Flag Resynced still has significant ground to cover before joining the franchise’s highest-selling releases. Based on Ubisoft’s previous sales figures, the remake would likely need to exceed 8 million copies to break into the series’ top 10 lifetime best sellers.
The launch also stands out because modern Assassin’s Creed releases have been available through Ubisoft+, giving subscribers access to new games on day one. That subscription model can reduce the number of players purchasing a game outright at launch, making Black Flag Resynced’s direct sales total an especially strong result.
The game’s commercial success has been mirrored by improving player reception on PC. Following a mixed launch on Steam, user reviews have since shifted to a Mostly Positive rating, with many players praising the updated visuals and refined combat system. The developers made sure that it was Steam Deck verified before launch, which would have also helped. Early criticism largely centred on the game’s microtransactions, but the overall reception has improved as more reviews have been submitted.
