Havik is a rebel from Seido who seeks to destroy the realm’s oppressive social order and replace it with anarchy. His fighting style reflects that philosophy through self-mutilating attacks, regeneration, detached limbs and projectiles created from his own body.

Havik has two character-specific Fatalities, the No Laughing Matter Animality, The Klassic, five Brutalities unlocked through Fighter Mastery and two additional Seasonal Store Brutalities. Unlike most of the base roster, Havik must normally be unlocked by completing Mortal Kombat 1 Story Mode, although the Definitive Edition also includes an instant Havik unlock.

How to Perform Havik’s First Fatality in MK1 (Atomic Heart)

Input Distance: Close to Sweep Distance
Execution Difficulty: Easy

  • PlayStation: ⬇️➡️⬇️🅾️
  • Xbox: ⬇️➡️⬇️🅑
  • Nintendo Switch: ⬇️➡️⬇️🅐

Havik tears out his own heart before ripping the heart from his opponent and forcing his organ into their chest. He then crushes the victim’s heart, causing his transplanted heart to explode and tear apart the opponent’s torso.

Atomic Heart is frequently labelled simply as a Close Fatality, but my own finisher testing places its working range from Close through to Sweep Distance.

I found Havik does not need to be directly against the opponent. Moving back towards Sweep Distance still leaves enough room for Atomic Heart to activate reliably.

How to Perform Havik’s Second Fatality in MK1 (RAD-ius Incision)

Input Distance: Close to Sweep Distance
Execution Difficulty: Easy

  • PlayStation: ➡️⬅️⬇️🔺
  • Xbox: ➡️⬅️⬇️🅨
  • Nintendo Switch: ➡️⬅️⬇️🅧

Havik deliberately breaks his own leg and exposes the bone before driving it through the opponent. He then shatters his arm, uses the exposed bone to slice through the victim’s torso and finally regenerates the damage he inflicted on himself.

RAD-ius Incision has the same Close to Sweep Distance working window as Atomic Heart despite simpler movelists labelling both Fatalities as Close.

That makes Havik’s Fatality positioning unusually straightforward. Once you are somewhere between point-blank range and Sweep Distance, either character-specific Fatality can be performed without adjusting your position.

How to Perform Havik’s Animality in MK1 (No Laughing Matter)

Input Distance: Sweep Distance to Full Screen
Execution Difficulty: Easy

  • PlayStation: ⬅️⬇️⬇️🅧
  • Xbox: ⬅️⬇️⬇️🅐
  • Nintendo Switch: ⬅️⬇️⬇️🅑

Havik transforms into a hyena and savagely attacks his opponent before tearing their intestines from the body.

No Laughing Matter works from Sweep Distance through to Full Screen, making it considerably more forgiving than either of Havik’s Fatalities.

The hyena also fits the Animality’s name particularly well. Hyenas are famous for vocalisations that resemble human laughter, giving No Laughing Matter a direct connection between the animal and the finisher’s wordplay.

Havik never had an Animality during his original appearances. He debuted in Mortal Kombat: Deception, years after Animalities disappeared from the main series, making No Laughing Matter his first official transformation of this type.

All Havik Brutalities in Mortal Kombat 1

Havik has The Klassic and five character-specific Brutalities unlocked through Fighter Mastery. Good To Be Back!, Need A Hand?, It’s A Twist Off, Knocking Around and Kablooey unlock at Mastery Ranks 3, 5, 7, 10 and 15 respectively.

Like A Top and Dead Lasso were added through the Khaos Reigns-era Seasonal Store, bringing Havik to eight currently usable Brutalities when The Klassic is included.

The Klassic

Unlock Requirement: Available by default

  • PlayStation: ⬇️ + 🔺
  • Xbox: ⬇️ + 🅨
  • Nintendo Switch: ⬇️ + 🅧

Final Hit: Uppercut
Additional Condition: Hold Back Punch during the Final Hit.

Havik performs an Uppercut while using his mutilated arm, removing his opponent’s head and spine.

The Klassic is available without progressing Havik through Fighter Mastery and uses the standard universal Uppercut condition.

Good To Be Back!

Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 3

  • PlayStation: L1 or ⬜ + 🅧
  • Xbox: LB or 🅧 + 🅐
  • Nintendo Switch: L or 🅨 + 🅑

Final Hit: Self-Destructive Barrage (Back Throw)
Input Distance: Near
Additional Condition: Press Forward, Down, Back, Up immediately after initiating the Back Throw.

Havik performs his Back Throw and brutally snaps the opponent’s neck, with the finishing version removing their head completely.

Forward → Down → Back → Up

All you have to remember with this one, is to simply perform the rotation once immediately after triggering the throw.

I found the easiest way to treat the input is like a single clockwise sweep around the directional pad or stick rather than four unrelated button presses. Starting the rotation as soon as the grab connects gives the game the largest possible registration window.

Havik must be near the opponent, which naturally overlaps with the range required to initiate his Back Throw.

Because both finishers begin from Havik’s Back Throw, the follow-up input determines which Brutality activates.

Need A Hand?

Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 5

  • PlayStation: ⬅️ + 🔺, 🔺, L1 or ⬜ + 🅧
  • Xbox: ⬅️ + 🅨, 🅨, LB or 🅧 + 🅐
  • Nintendo Switch: ⬅️ + 🅧, 🅧, L or 🅨 + 🅑

Final Hit: Skab Stab
Additional Condition: Hold Forward during the Final Hit.

Havik completes Skab Stab and uses the exposed bone of his mutilated forearm to tear the opponent’s head from their body.

Need A Hand? is considerably simpler than Good To Be Back! because there is no timing sequence or distance requirement beyond landing the Kombo.

Enter the complete Skab Stab string first, then continue holding Forward as the Throw input finishes the sequence.

It’s A Twist Off

Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 7

  • PlayStation: 🔺, 🔺
  • Xbox: 🅨, 🅨
  • Nintendo Switch: 🅧, 🅧

Final Hit: Flesh Wound
Additional Condition: Hold Down during the Final Hit.

Havik beats the opponent using his detached arm before tearing away one of their arms and replacing his missing limb with the victim’s.

It’s A Twist Off is one of Havik’s shortest Brutality inputs. Enter the two Back Punch attacks and begin holding Down as the second strike connects.

Because the activation condition is tied specifically to the Final Hit, holding Down too early is unnecessary. Older player troubleshooting around Havik’s short Kombos also suggests that delaying the held direction until the finishing strike can prevent failed activations.

Knocking Around

Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 10

  • PlayStation: ⬇️⬅️⬜
  • Xbox: ⬇️⬅️🅧
  • Nintendo Switch: ⬇️⬅️🅨

Final Hit: Helping Hand
Additional Condition: Hold Up during the Final Hit.

Havik attacks using Helping Hand and finishes the opponent with the move’s rising strike, removing their head.

Knocking Around has no meter, range or charge requirement. Perform Down, Back + Front Punch and continue holding Up as Helping Hand connects.

Havik’s Helping Hand was significantly altered when Khaos Reigns launched, including faster startup and other gameplay changes, but the current Brutality condition remains tied to the normal Helping Hand Final Hit.

Kablooey

Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 15

  • PlayStation: ⬅️➡️🅧
  • Xbox: ⬅️➡️🅐
  • Nintendo Switch: ⬅️➡️🅑

Final Hit: Seeking Neoplasm
Input Distance: Near
Additional Condition: Hold Forward during the Final Hit.

Havik launches Seeking Neoplasm into his opponent. Instead of ending with the normal projectile reaction, the victim becomes stunned before violently exploding into gore.

I found this is the easiest part of Kablooey to overlook because the move itself naturally encourages using distance. Treat it as a close-range finishing attack rather than normal projectile zoning: move near the opponent first, then perform Back, Forward + Front Kick and hold Forward as the orb hits.

Seasonal Store Brutalities

Havik received two additional Brutalities through the Khaos Reigns-era Seasonal Store. Like A Top and Dead Lasso are separate from Fighter Mastery progression and remain usable once acquired.

Like A Top

Unlock Requirement: Seasonal Store

  • PlayStation: ⬇️⬅️🅾️
  • Xbox: ⬇️⬅️🅑
  • Nintendo Switch: ⬇️⬅️🅐

Final Hit: Twisted Torso
Additional Condition: Hold Back during the Final Hit.

Havik performs Twisted Torso, violently rotating his own upper body before the attack removes his opponent’s head and destroys it.

There is a useful input distinction here. Twisted Torso and the airborne Nether Stomp use the same Down, Back + Back Kick command, but Like A Top specifically requires Twisted Torso as the Final Hit. Havik therefore needs to perform the move while grounded. Twisted Torso is the ground move and Nether Stomp is its airborne counterpart.

I would treat staying grounded as part of the setup even though it is not written as a separate Brutality condition. Jumping before entering the same buttons produces the wrong special move and therefore cannot satisfy the required Final Hit.

Dead Lasso

Unlock Requirement: Seasonal Store

  • PlayStation: ⬜, ⬜, 🔺
  • Xbox: 🅧, 🅧, 🅨
  • Nintendo Switch: 🅨, 🅨, 🅧

Final Hit: Neck Snapper
Additional Condition: Hold Forward during the Final Hit.

Havik performs the Neck Snapper Kombo before pulling out his own intestine and using it as a lasso around the opponent. He drags the victim towards himself and finishes with a headbutt that destroys their head.

Dead Lasso is mechanically much simpler than Like A Top. Enter Front Punch, Front Punch, Back Punch and continue holding Forward as the final Back Punch lands.

The main thing to avoid is holding Forward before beginning the Kombo if it changes your opening normal. Enter the Neck Snapper sequence cleanly first and transition into the held direction as the final hit approaches.
