In Mortal Kombat 1’s New Era, Nitara is a vampire from Vaeternus fighting to save her people from starvation after the realm’s creatures were overfed and its natural balance collapsed. Her moveset combines aerial mobility with blood-based attacks such as Blood Sacrifice, Bloody Bolt and Bad Blood.
Nitara has two character-specific Fatalities, the Bat’s All, Folks Animality, The Klassic, five Brutalities unlocked through Fighter Mastery and two additional Seasonal Store Brutalities. This Mortal Kombat 1 guide covers every current finisher alongside its platform inputs, working distances, Final Hits and activation conditions.
How to Perform Nitara’s First Fatality in MK1 (Vaeternus KomBAT)
Input Distance: Jump Distance to Full Screen
Execution Difficulty: Easy
- PlayStation: ⬇️⬇️⬅️⬜
- Xbox: ⬇️⬇️⬅️🅧
- Nintendo Switch: ⬇️⬇️⬅️🅨
Nitara lifts her opponent into the air as a swarm of bats attacks from inside their body. She then tears away the front of the victim’s torso as the bats escape and surround her.
Vaeternus KomBAT is normally labelled simply as a Mid Fatality, but when I played it has a much larger working window from Jump Distance through to Full Screen.
From comparing the current range data with finisher demonstrations, I found there is no benefit to standing particularly close for Vaeternus KomBAT. Once Nitara is at roughly Jump Distance, you can continue backing away and retain the Fatality all the way across the arena.
How to Perform Nitara’s Second Fatality in MK1 (Brake Check)
Input Distance: Jump Distance to Full Screen
Execution Difficulty: Easy
- PlayStation: ⬅️⬇️⬅️🅾️
- Xbox: ⬅️⬇️⬅️🅑
- Nintendo Switch: ⬅️⬇️⬅️🅐
Nitara tears into her opponent before taking flight while suspending them beneath her. She finishes the Fatality with a powerful kick that sends the victim crashing back towards the ground.
Brake Check shares the same unusually generous Jump Distance to Full Screen activation window as Vaeternus KomBAT. Simpler movelists variously describe the Fatality as Mid or Mid-to-Far, but when I tested it works from considerably farther away.
That makes Nitara unusual in having two character-specific Fatalities that can both be performed from Full Screen. If the final round ends with the fighters separated, there is no need to approach the opponent before entering either input.
Important: Nitara can also perform the Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Winter Fatalities if they are unlocked on the player’s account. These seasonal Fatalities are not unique to Nitara and can be performed by other playable fighters.
How to Perform Nitara’s Animality in MK1 (Bat’s All, Folks)
Input Distance: Sweep Distance to Full Screen
Execution Difficulty: Easy
- PlayStation: ➡️⬇️⬇️🅧
- Xbox: ➡️⬇️⬇️🅐
- Nintendo Switch: ➡️⬇️⬇️🅑
Nitara transforms into a giant bat and swoops down to snatch her opponent. The Animality continues with the bat hanging upside down and wrapping its wings around the victim before feeding on them and dropping what remains.
Bat’s All, Folks works from Sweep Distance through to Full Screen, giving it an even more forgiving minimum range than Nitara’s two Fatalities.
The bat transformation is an obvious extension of Nitara’s vampiric identity, but it is also her first Animality in the series. Nitara debuted in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance in 2002, years after Animalities disappeared from the main games.
For the animal transformation used by every other playable fighter, see our complete Mortal Kombat 1 Animality guide.
All Nitara Brutalities in Mortal Kombat 1
Nitara has The Klassic and five character-specific Brutalities unlocked through Fighter Mastery. Embrace The Pain, Come Here Often, Taste Of Blood, They Come Right Off and Something You Ate? become available at Mastery Ranks 3, 5, 7, 10 and 15 respectively.
Split Decision and Head Trauma were subsequently added through the Seasonal Store, bringing Nitara to eight currently usable Brutalities when The Klassic is included.
The Klassic
Unlock Requirement: Available by default
- PlayStation: ⬇️ + 🔺
- Xbox: ⬇️ + 🅨
- Nintendo Switch: ⬇️ + 🅧
Final Hit: Uppercut
Additional Condition: Hold Back Punch during the Final Hit.
Nitara performs an Uppercut that removes her opponent’s head with the spine still attached.
The Klassic is available without progressing Nitara through Fighter Mastery and uses the standard universal Uppercut requirement.
Embrace The Pain
Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 3
- PlayStation: L1 or ⬜ + 🅧
- Xbox: LB or 🅧 + 🅐
- Nintendo Switch: L or 🅨 + 🅑
Final Hit: Not Worth The View (Back Throw)
Additional Condition: Press Up, Up, Up during the Final Hit.
Nitara performs her Back Throw before carrying the opponent into the air. When the Brutality activates, she finishes the airborne victim rather than completing the normal throw sequence.
Enter the three Up inputs as soon as the Back Throw begins. There is no reason to wait for Nitara to become airborne because the additional inputs only need to register during the finishing throw.
Brutality Variation: Instead of pressing Up three times, hold Up + Back Punch immediately after initiating the Back Throw to trigger the universal MK11-style Screen Throw Brutality. The opponent is thrown towards the camera and cracks the screen.
Because Embrace The Pain and the hidden Screen Throw both originate from Nitara’s Back Throw, the follow-up input determines which Brutality activates.
Come Here Often
Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 5
- PlayStation: ⬅️➡️🔺
- Xbox: ⬅️➡️🅨
- Nintendo Switch: ⬅️➡️🅧
Final Hit: Quick Taste
Additional Condition: Rapidly press any Basic Attack button during the Final Hit.
Nitara catches the opponent with Quick Taste and continues feeding after the attack would normally finish before violently completing the Brutality.
Come Here Often has caused execution confusion among players because simply mashing after the visible finishing sequence begins can be too late. Player troubleshooting reports include repeated failed attempts despite using the correct move and condition.
From trying out the brutality myself, I found the safest approach is to start rapidly pressing a Basic Attack button as soon as Quick Taste connects, rather than waiting for Nitara’s biting animation to develop.
Taste Of Blood
Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 7
- PlayStation: ⬅️➡️🅧
- Xbox: ⬅️➡️🅐
- Nintendo Switch: ⬅️➡️🅑
Final Hit: Bloody Bolt
Input Distance: At least Jump Distance
Additional Condition: Blood Sacrifice must be active. Hold Front Kick during the Final Hit.
Nitara fires Bloody Bolt through her opponent while Blood Sacrifice is active, with the empowered projectile destroying much of the victim’s body as it passes through.
Taste Of Blood is more demanding than most of Nitara’s Brutalities because Bloody Bolt itself is only available while Blood Sacrifice is active. Activate Blood Sacrifice first:
- PlayStation: ⬇️➡️🅾️
- Xbox: ⬇️➡️🅑
- Nintendo Switch: ⬇️➡️🅐
Then create at least Jump Distance, perform Bloody Bolt and continue holding Front Kick as the projectile delivers the Final Hit.
I found the clearest way to approach Taste Of Blood is as a two-stage Brutality rather than one long input. Set up Blood Sacrifice first, then worry about the distance and Bloody Bolt. Trying to establish the buff, spacing and finishing input simultaneously makes the execution much harder than it needs to be.
Brutality Variation: Taste Of Blood has a hidden alternate version. Hold Front Kick + Flip Stance + Block as Bloody Bolt delivers the Final Hit and the opponent explodes into pieces instead of triggering the standard animation.
Platform controls for the hidden variation are:
- PlayStation: Hold 🅧 + L2 + R2
- Xbox: Hold 🅐 + LT + RT
- Nintendo Switch: Hold 🅑 + ZL + ZR
This hidden animation does not replace the normal requirements. Blood Sacrifice must still be active, Bloody Bolt must deliver the Final Hit and Nitara must still be at least Jump Distance away.
They Come Right Off
Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 10
- PlayStation: ➡️ + ⬜, 🔺
- Xbox: ➡️ + 🅧, 🅨
- Nintendo Switch: ➡️ + 🅨, 🅧
Final Hit: Easy Prey
Additional Condition: Hold Up during the Final Hit.
Nitara completes the Easy Prey Kombo and uses her talons to slice both of her opponent’s arms away before they collapse.
They Come Right Off is one of Nitara’s most straightforward Mastery Brutalities because it requires no meter, special buff, minimum distance or repeated button input.
Enter Forward + Front Punch followed by Back Punch, then transition into holding Up as the second attack connects.
Something You Ate?
Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 15
- PlayStation: ⬅️➡️⬜ + R2
- Xbox: ⬅️➡️🅧 + RT
- Nintendo Switch: ⬅️➡️🅨 + ZR
Final Hit: Enhanced Bad Blood
Additional Condition: Hold Down during the Final Hit. Requires at least one bar of Super Meter.
Nitara uses Enhanced Bad Blood to infect her opponent with blood magic. The Brutality causes the victim’s body to violently deteriorate as the enhanced projectile takes effect.
The Enhanced requirement is essential. A normal Bad Blood projectile cannot activate Something You Ate? even if it removes the opponent’s remaining health. This specifically requires Enhanced Bad Blood and at least one available bar of Super Meter.
Before attempting the finisher, I would check the meter first rather than treating the Block input as the only difference. If the bar is unavailable, Nitara cannot produce the Enhanced Bad Blood required for the Brutality.
Seasonal Store Brutalities
Nitara received two additional Brutalities through the Khaos Reigns-era Seasonal Store. Split Decision and Head Trauma are separate from Fighter Mastery progression and remain usable once acquired. Both were originally sold for 6,000 Seasonal Kredits.
Split Decision
Unlock Requirement: Seasonal Store
- PlayStation: 🔺, 🔺, ⬜
- Xbox: 🅨, 🅨, 🅧
- Nintendo Switch: 🅧, 🅧, 🅨
Final Hit: Flying Kolors
Additional Condition: Hold Up during the Final Hit.
Nitara completes the Flying Kolors Kombo and swings her talons through the opponent, cutting the victim in half at the waist.
Split Decision uses a simple three-hit Kombo. Enter Back Punch, Back Punch, Front Punch and begin holding Up as the final Front Punch connects.
The finisher has generated some player confusion because failed attempts can look as though an additional distance condition exists. You’ve just got to remember that there’s no minimum distance requirement, only Flying Kolors as the Final Hit and holding Up during the attack.
Head Trauma
Unlock Requirement: Seasonal Store
- PlayStation: ⬅️ + 🔺, 🅾️
- Xbox: ⬅️ + 🅨, 🅑
- Nintendo Switch: ⬅️ + 🅧, 🅐
Final Hit: Drawing Blood
Additional Condition: Hold Forward during the Final Hit.
Nitara performs Drawing Blood and finishes the Kombo with a forceful dropkick that removes the opponent’s head.
Head Trauma has one of the simplest activation conditions in Nitara’s entire Brutality set. Enter Back + Back Punch followed by Back Kick, then continue holding Forward as the closing kick lands.
