The Fortnitemares 2023 event runs for three weeks until early November. Two new weapons are the Wood Stake Shotgun found in chests and Thorne’s Vampiric Blade mythic weapon from defeating his vampire form. Returning weapons include the explosive Pumpkin Launcher, Witch’s Broom glider, and consumable Candy, replacing the vaulted Star Wars lightsabers.

Major character skins join Fortnite for the first time including Alan Wake, Michael Myers from Halloween, and Nightmare Before Christmas’ Jack Skellington. Skins for original characters like the creepy fish-man Bogstick round out the Halloween looks.

The biggest thumbs up that will go down well within the community will no-doubt be the unvaulting of the Kinetic Katana Blade for mobility. Players were left fuming when it got vaulted last season, so it will be welcomed back with open arms.

Fortnite’s ongoing seasonal storyline concerns vampire boss Kado Thorne’s takeover using a time machine. Quality of life improvements include quicker weapon swapping on controllers via a new Quick Weapon Action wheel. The menu UI has also been streamlined with the quests, playlists, and discovery tabs receiving upgrades for easier navigation.

Halloween Transformation of the Island

Remedy’s Alan Wake skin likely ties into the October 27th launch of Alan Wake 2. Jack Skellington also has a Santa costume. Horde Rush and the mythic Vampire Thorne boss return alongside new cube monster upgrade benches and quests.

Four other new skins are wrapped rapscallion Seth, muckfish Bogstick, meownstrosity Phantom Meowscles, and nautilus Festival Phaedra. Competitive playlists omit new weapons, items, and certain Augments per hotfixes. Visual bugs were fixed and Android OS requirements raised.

With Halloween in full swing, the battle royale island has transformed with seasonal decor. Between old and new content, Fortnitemares 2023 offers frivolous frightening fun for players before Chapter 4 Season 4 concludes.
