The title will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, with a physical release following in November 2024. Until today, we had no idea on platforms or launch date, but now it’s all set in stone! Alongside the digital showcase was an announcement trailer with additional footage that was never seen before, you can view that trailer below:
Technical Upgrades and Gameplay Enhancements
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster isn’t just a simple port. Capcom has rebuilt the game using their proprietary RE Engine, enabling stunning 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.
This visual overhaul promises to bring the quirky world of Dead Rising to life like never before.
Gameplay improvements are also a focal point. Players can now move while aiming, addressing a long-standing criticism of the original.
The developer has also fine-tuned the interface, improved NPC behaviour, and added an auto-save function to modernise the experience.
One of the most significant additions is full voice acting for all NPCs and survivor interactions, available in nine languages.
This enhancement aims to deepen the narrative and create a more immersive atmosphere. Notably, protagonist Frank West has been recast, potentially signalling a fresh interpretation of the character.
Editions and Pre-order Bonuses
Capcom is offering two versions of the game: a Standard Edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition. The latter includes bonus background music tracks and additional costumes for Frank.
Pre-order bonuses have also been revealed, featuring:
- Frank West 2006 Costume
- Chuck Greene Costume
- Willamette Parkview Mall Bee Costume
- Three BGM tracks: Dreams of Yore, Super Shopper, and Happy Flight
The announcement of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster comes after a period of uncertainty for the franchise.
The last entry, Dead Rising 4, received mixed reviews and reportedly underperformed in sales, leading to the cancellation of a planned sequel and the closure of Capcom Vancouver.
This remaster appears to be Capcom’s attempt to recapture the magic of the original game, which is widely considered the strongest entry in the series.
By focusing on the first entry, the developers seems to be acknowledging fan preferences and aiming to reignite interest in the franchise.
Community Reaction and Speculation
The Dead Rising community has responded positively to the announcement, with many expressing excitement about revisiting the game with modern enhancements.
Some fans are hopeful that the remaster might incorporate elements from later games, such as characters from Dead Rising 3, to create a more cohesive narrative across the series.
There’s also speculation about the potential for further remasters or even new entries in the franchise if Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster performs well.
The success of this release could pave the way for similar treatments of Dead Rising 2 and its spin-off, Off The Record.
As the September release date approaches, fans are eagerly awaiting more details about Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. Questions remain about the extent of the narrative changes, if any, and how faithfully the remaster will recreate the unique time management system that defined the original game.
Whether this remaster will serve as a springboard for the series’ revival or stand as a celebration of its legacy remains to be seen, but one thing is clear, Frank West is ready for some zombie-slaying once again.
