Two New Halloween Video Games in Development with Unreal Engine 5

Two New Halloween Games Announced

Key Highlights:

  • Two new Halloween video games are in development.
  • One game will use Unreal Engine 5 and involve John Carpenter.
  • Players can relive moments from the original 1978 film.

In an exciting development for horror fans and gamers alike, the iconic Halloween film series is set to make its mark on the video game industry.

Two new games based on the classic 1978 horror film are currently in the works, promising to bring the chills and thrills of the big screen to gaming consoles and computers.

The company behind these spine-tingling projects is Boss Team Games, known for their work on Evil Dead: The Game. They’re teaming up with the original Halloween film producers to create these games, ensuring that the spirit of the franchise remains intact.

One of the most thrilling aspects of this news is that one of the games will be built using Unreal Engine 5, a cutting-edge game development tool.

This means players can expect stunning visuals and immersive gameplay that truly captures the eerie atmosphere of Halloween night in Haddonfield.

If the news couldn’t get any better, horror master John Carpenter, the director of the original Halloween film, is getting involved too.

Carpenter, who’s not just a filmmaker but also a big fan of video games, expressed his excitement about the project whilst giving an exclusive interview with IGN.

“As someone who loves playing games, I’m really looking forward to helping bring Michael Myers to life in this new way,” he said. “I hope we can give players a proper fright!”

These new games will let players step into the world of Halloween like never before. You’ll be able to relive famous scenes from the film and even control some of the well-known characters.

While we don’t know for sure yet, this could mean playing as Laurie Strode, the brave babysitter, or perhaps even taking on the role of the terrifying Michael Myers himself.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Halloween has ventured into the gaming world. Back in 1983, there was a Halloween game for the Atari 2600, where players took on the role of a babysitter (probably meant to be Laurie) trying to escape from Michael Myers.

More recently, the masked killer has shown up as a playable character in other games like Call of Duty: Ghosts, Dead by Daylight, and even Fortnite.

However, these new games will be different. Instead of Michael Myers just being a guest star, he’ll be the main attraction.

This is the first time in almost 35 years that the Halloween franchise will have its own dedicated video games.

The team at Boss Team Games is clearly excited about the project. Their CEO, Steve Harris, said:

“We’re all huge fans of horror films, and Halloween is really special to us. Getting to work with characters like Michael Myers and build on John Carpenter’s original ideas is like a dream come true.”

While we don’t have all the details yet, there are plenty of possibilities for what these titles could be like.

One idea is that they could be similar to titles like Alien: Isolation, where players have to survive while being hunted by a terrifying enemy.

Whatever form they take, it’s clear that the developers want to create something that both fans of the movies and video game enthusiasts will enjoy.

It’s important to note that these games are still in the early stages of development. The one using Unreal Engine 5 is just getting started, so it might be a while before we get to play them.

The developers haven’t announced any release dates yet, but horror fans and gamers should keep an eye out for more news in the coming months. This announcement is part of a growing trend of classic horror franchises making their way into the gaming world.

With the success of games based on other horror films like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Friday the 13th, it seems that game developers are realising the potential of these beloved scary stories.

For younger gamers who might not be familiar with the Halloween films, this could be a great introduction to the franchise. The games will likely capture the suspense and scares of the movies without being too graphic, making them suitable for teen players. As we wait for more information about these new Halloween entries, fans of the franchise have plenty to be excited about.

The chance to explore the town of Haddonfield, face off against (or play as) Michael Myers, and experience the tension of Halloween night in an interactive way is sure to appeal to both long-time fans and newcomers equally.

As more details emerge about these new Halloween titles, we’ll be sure to keep you updated. Whether you’re a fan of the films, a gamer looking for new thrills, or both, it looks like the future of horror gaming is bright – or should we say, dark and scary?
