What Are Spinels?
Spinels are pink, prism-shaped gemstones that serve as a rare form of currency in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Unlike Pesetas, which players use for everyday purchases like ammo and weapon upgrades, Spinels are reserved for the Trade tab of the Merchant’s inventory.
This makes them more valuable, as they can be exchanged for exclusive items that can’t be acquired through normal gameplay routes.
The Merchant, who appears periodically throughout Leon’s journey, offers unique tools and upgrades in exchange for these gems — many of which can’t be obtained any other way.
How To Get Spinels
Complete Blue Requests
The most consistent method for earning Spinels is by completing Blue Requests.
These optional side tasks are posted on bright blue notes scattered across the environment.
Players will encounter them stuck on walls, noticeboards, or hanging beside doors.
Each request outlines a small challenge — such as destroying matching emblems on twin tombstones, catching fish, or eliminating particular enemies.
Once completed, players should return to the Merchant to hand in the task and collect their Spinel reward.
Defeat High-Value Enemies
Certain enemies drop Spinels upon death, though this is less common. In particular, armoured knights encountered in the Castle during Chapter 9 tend to drop them more frequently.
If you’re farming for Spinels, this is one of the better locations to revisit, especially while retrieving the Lion Head.

Explore and Loot
Spinels can also be found tucked away inside crates, drawers, and other lootable containers.
