Key Highlights:

  • Pokémon GO Wild Area 2025 runs in Nagasaki from 7–9 November, then globally on 15–16 November, 10:00 to 18:00 local.
  • Debuts include Impidimp, Morgrem and Grimmsnarl, with Shiny Hatenna and Shiny Unown W.
  • Shadow Darkrai and Cresselia headline raids, while Mighty Pokémon return alongside GO Safari Balls.

Niantic is bringing back Pokémon GO’s Wild Area Event with a two-stage rollout. The in-person stop is Nagasaki City from 7 to 9 November. A week later, trainers worldwide get a two-day event on 15 and 16 November, running 10:00 to 18:00 each day. The star attraction is the Impidimp line. Impidimp appears in the wild and from 5 km Eggs on your ticketed day, evolving to Morgrem for 25 Candy and to Grimmsnarl for 100. All three can be shiny during the event.

Mighty Pokémon are returning as rare, high-level overworld spawns.

They come fully evolved, hit harder than usual, and have a minimum 13-13-13 IV floor. They are tougher to catch, so Golden Razz Berries and the returning GO Safari Ball are the smart play.

Some Mighty picks rotate by day. Saturday can feature options like Tyranitar, Galarian Rapidash, Hatterene and Meowscarada.

Sunday shifts to choices such as Alolan Ninetales, Gardevoir, Garchomp and Weavile. Incense helps across both days, with ticket holders gaining extra pulls, including Unown letters W, I, L and D, plus a rare chance at the Lake Trio.

Pokémon GO shadow raids anchor the endgame. Shadow Cresselia and Shadow Darkrai will occupy five-star Shadow Raids, both with shiny potential. I would prioritise Darkrai on day one. Shadow Darkrai is set to be one of the best Dark-type raid attackers, and a good IV copy will carry you through future Legendary rotations. Shadow Cresselia is more of a PvP curiosity. The base form is a wall in Great and Ultra League, but the Shadow trade-off changes bulk, so it will need testing.

Spawns rotate through two hourly habitats that loop all day. Lurking Dark Hour leans into Dark types such as Alolan Meowth, Murkrow, Houndour, Galarian Zigzagoon, Deino, Zorua and Impidimp, with extra oddballs like Gastly, Skorupi and Dreepy. Fanciful Fairy Hour pivots to Fairy picks including Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Galarian Ponyta, Ralts, Hatenna, Dedenne and Cutiefly, plus support choices like Marill, Togetic and Klefki in eligible regions.

If you are target hunting, set alarms to line up the right hour blocks, then stack Lures and Incense.

Eggs also matter here. During the event, 5 km Eggs can hatch Mime Jr., Sandile, Pawniard, Carbink, Impidimp and Tinkatink. That pool covers several useful dex entries and trade bait.

Shiny debuts extend beyond the new line. Shiny Hatenna is live in the wild, and ticket holders can find Shiny Unown W from Incense. The GO Safari Ball returns for the duration, making tough catches more realistic.

Tickets for the global weekend cost 11.99 USD or local equivalent. Buying through the web store is the better value since it adds items and a Flower Crown avatar bonus at the same price, plus Reward Road points. Ticket perks include increased shiny odds, two times Catch Candy, half Hatch Distance on Eggs incubated during event hours, longer Lure and Incense timers, up to six free Raid Passes from Gym spins, and a branching Special Research that lets you choose a Dark or Fairy path for themed rewards and a medal.

Snapshot fans get six photobombs. There are also Max Particle boosts for players leaning into that feature, with a higher daily cap and a reduced cost for unlocking and powering up Max Moves once you have collected the day’s allotment.

Non-ticket play still has value. Everyone gets up to three free Raid Passes per day by spinning Gyms, a higher daily Max Particle cap and three Snapshot surprises.

If you are only playing casually, you can still raid the Shadow bosses and sample the rotating habitats without paying.

Nagasaki adds extras for those on the ground. The citywide format replaces a single park zone, there are photo spots and pop-ups, and a glow-in-the-dark event T-shirt is available by preorder. It is a familiar hybrid plan that rewards travel while keeping the core experience global.

From my perspective, what stands out most is how Niantic is threading continuity into these Wild Area events. Last year’s Fukuoka event laid the groundwork with Gigantamax Toxtricity and the GO Safari Ball. Now, the Safari Ball is becoming a recurring mechanic, and Mighty Pokemon are shaping into a long-term feature rather than a one-off experiment.

If you want a clean plan of attack, here is what I would do. Day one, spend the first and third Dark hours on Deino and Impidimp checks, then pivot to Fairy windows for Hatenna and Dedenne. Use Golden Razz on Mighty encounters and save Premier Balls for Shadow raids.

Day two, I would focus on Sunday-exclusive Mighty spawns like Garchomp and Alolan Ninetales, then mop up any missing shinies during the final Fairy hour. If you are chasing long-term utility, aim at Shadow Darkrai for raids and a bulky Grimmsnarl for future limited PvP cups.
