Key Highlights:

  • Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 Broadcast confirmed for September 25 at 7pm JST.

  • Speculation builds around Ninja Gaiden 4, ROG Xbox Ally, and possible Forza Horizon 6 tease.

Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox will host a showcase at Tokyo Game Show 2025 on September 25th. The broadcast starts at 7pm JST (3am PT / 6am ET / 11am UK) and will be streamed worldwide in multiple languages, with a full recap to follow on Xbox Wire.

The official announcement was light on specifics, but Xbox executives have teased this year’s event as one fans “don’t want to miss” via the Xbox Wire.

Historically, these September broadcasts have delivered both new Game Pass titles and surprise reveals, and the same looks set to continue. Last year’s show included shadow-drops such as Legend of Mana and We Love Katamari Reroll+, while confirming StarCraft Remastered for PC Game Pass.

This year, several strong candidates are already in the mix. Ninja Gaiden 4, co-developed by Team Ninja and PlatinumGames, will be playable on the TGS show floor.

As it is published by Xbox Game Studios, it would be a major miss if it didn’t feature prominently in the broadcast. From my perspective, this is one of the biggest third-party collaborations Microsoft has secured in years, so expect it to be positioned as a centrepiece of the presentation.

Microsoft also confirmed that the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, its handheld devices co-developed with ASUS, will be at TGS. With the October release date already locked in, many are expecting a final word on pricing. Hardware announcements at TGS have often been underplayed, but with handheld gaming booming in Japan, this could be a critical moment for Xbox to signal its commitment to the region.

Bethesda will have a booth showcasing merchandise from Fallout, Starfield, Doom, and Oblivion, which raises the possibility of updates or expansions tied to its major IPs during the broadcast.

The most exciting speculation centres on Forza Horizon 6. Phil Spencer recently confirmed the next entry is due in 2026, and rumours have strongly pointed to Japan as the setting. Even a brief teaser at TGS would send a strong message about Microsoft’s global ambitions, given the cultural fit and the demand for a Japanese-based racing map.

I’ve seen Xbox leverage TGS in recent years not just for local partnerships, but also to reshape its global image, and this would align perfectly with that strategy.

Game Pass announcements will almost certainly pad out the showcase, with September’s Wave 1 lineup already revealed . Microsoft’s habit of tying surprise drops to these events means players should expect a few unannounced additions to the service.

Already we’ve seen SEGA, Capcom and Sony confirm their presence and lineups respectively.

Xbox may still be the underdog in Japan, but its consistent TGS presence has built trust and anticipation. If the showcase delivers on the scale of its teasers, it could be one of Microsoft’s most impactful appearances at the event to date.
