Battlefield 6 Double XP Event Is Currently Exclusive to PlayStation 5

Key Highlights:

  • Battlefield 6 is running a Double Career and Weapon XP event exclusive to PS5.
  • PC and Xbox players have been left waiting, with no official explanation from EA or DICE.
  • This continues a trend of PlayStation-exclusive perks that’s frustrating the wider player base.

It looks like Battlefield 6 is handing out another PlayStation-exclusive advantage, and this time it’s a Double XP event that quietly went live without warning. I went into the game myself earlier today to confirm it, and sure enough, PlayStation 5 players are getting both Double Career XP and Double Weapon XP. No such boost appears on PC or Xbox right now.

There’s been no official announcement from EA or DICE about the promotion, and the in-game notice only seems to appear on PlayStation. That lack of transparency hasn’t gone unnoticed. When I checked the Battlefield community threads and social posts, it became clear that many players on other platforms had logged in expecting the same event, only to find nothing. Only one publication on X/Twitter (Battlefield Bulletin) announced the double XP event; you can view the tweet below:

The cause is simple enough to trace. Battlefield 6 has an active marketing deal with PlayStation, which has already led to several benefits for Sony’s users. These have ranged from free store bundles and early beta access to an exclusive PS5-only skin and extra Battle Pass tier skips for those on the PRO pass. This Double XP window just adds another item to that growing list.

From what I’ve seen, the event isn’t a full weekend rollout yet, it appears to be an early activation phase that PlayStation Plus subscribers get a day ahead of everyone else. The fine print from a recent PS Plus promotion did mention “extended access to Double XP events,” suggesting that PlayStation users will now start these bonuses every Thursday while PC and Xbox wait until Friday. If that’s the case, the wider rollout could begin November 7, assuming the pattern holds.

While a single day of early Double XP might not sound like a major issue, it’s part of a wider frustration that’s been building since launch. The Battlefield series has always had strong PC roots, and seeing Sony users repeatedly handed small but consistent advantages hasn’t sat well with the community. Add to that the sluggish progression system, something I noticed firsthand during my session today, and you can understand why players feel the balance is off. When progression already moves at a crawl, even a 24-hour XP boost becomes meaningful.

What makes this sting more is the sense of déjà vu. We’ve seen this before with timed exclusives in Call of Duty’s Xbox era, but that was over a decade ago. In 2025, most players expect parity across platforms, especially for live-service games. Battlefield 6’s decision to tie faster levelling and bonus events to one platform feels like a step backward.

It doesn’t help that Double Battle Pass XP isn’t currently active, meaning that even PlayStation players can’t use this to progress their seasonal rewards any faster. This boost applies only to Career and Weapon XP, which makes the whole rollout feel half-hearted. Combined with last month’s backlash over the RedSec update and the challenge-based progression model, this move just adds to the impression that EA and DICE are struggling to manage player sentiment.

If EA wants Battlefield 6 to recover from its rough launch reputation, better communication would be a good start. Players don’t necessarily object to marketing partnerships, but they do object to feeling blindsided. Right now, that’s exactly how PC and Xbox users feel, and unless this XP event opens to everyone soon, that frustration is only going to deepen.
