The brutal, beloved fighting game Mortal Kombat 1 is expanding its roster of brawlers with the addition of Image Comics antihero Omni-Man as the first DLC character. A brand new trailer showcasing Omni-Man’s grisly fatality moves debuted at New York Comic Con, thrilling fans.

Fatalities Showcase Signature Invincible Moments

Mortal Kombat is renowned for over-the-top violence and grim fatalities finishing off opponents. As such, Omni-Man from the hyper-violent comic Invincible seems an ideal fit. His reveal arrives in time for Invincible’s 20th anniversary.

Footage displays Omni-Man violently crushing enemy skulls and faces with his bare hands, referencing his most shocking Invincible comic moments. His fatalities also depict him bludgeoning foes with a subway train and pummeling them. The video which lasts just over a minute, includes fights against veterans Scorpion and Liu Kang.

J.K. Simmons Reprises His Role

Omni-Man’s competitive interactions and dialogue were also showcased, describing his motivations and establishing rivalries with the MK1 cast. Veteran voice actor J.K. Simmons reprises his acclaimed role as Omni-Man from the Invincible animated adaptation.

The trailer additionally provides a first look at classic Mortal Kombat ninja character Tremor, who will appear as a kameo fighter. Omni-Man arrives in November 2023 for Kombat Pack owners or Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition buyers, then becomes available separately later.

The revealing trailer confirms Omni-Man as a brutal, thematically appropriate addition for the fighting title’s continually expanding roster. His sadistic fatalities and sinister persona make him right at home in the savage, beloved fighting franchise.

Quan Chi and Peacemaker Incoming

Mortal Kombat 1 Omni-Man First Look

Omni-Man joins upcoming Kombat Pack additions like Quan Chi and Peacemaker, plus five other kameo fighters. After being showcased in a previous reveal for inclusion before launch, his gory, true-to-source-material debut trailer exceeded many loyal MK fans’ expectations.

The iconic fighting game just recently released two back-to-back updates with one fixing the player 1 glitch and the other to add the season 1 of Invasion Mode to the Nintendo Switch version.

Recruiting Image Comics’ powerful, murderous Omni-Man into that blood-soaked pantheon of fighters fulfills a perfect match between characters and franchises. The alien superhero’s arrival ensures more viscerally entertaining fights for a new generation of MK devotees.
