How to Find The Tuxedo in Sons of The Forest

Kelvin in a tuxedo stands on a rocky beach surrounded by trees, with the words "Sons of the Forest" and "Tuxedo Location" overlayed.

Key Highlights:

  • Grab the Tuxedo from Maintenance A once you have the RebreatherRope Gun, and Shovel.
  • Dig the hatch near a golf cart and surveyor tripods, clear mutant babies, then loot the suit in the bathroom of the underground apartment.
  • Pick up the Maintenance Keycard, Firefighter Axe, and use the 3D Printer while you’re there.

The Tuxedo in Sons of The Forest is a style pick that still has practical use. It offers light weather resistance, under-half damage protection, and better-than-average comfort. Players can wear it, and I like to hand it to Kelvin for a little comic relief around camp.

You’ll find it in Maintenance A on the north-west side of the island. You can go for it on day one, but only if you’ve already secured the Rebreather and Rope Gun to reach the Shovel first. That item chain matters because the Shovel is how you access the bunker.

From the Shovel cave, head north along the river. Watch for a broken golf cart and surveyor tripods beside digging gear. That’s your spot. Equip the Shovel and dig until the hatch marked “Maintenance A” is exposed, then climb down.

The entry corridor is lit and quiet apart from a pack of mutant babies near the end. I prefer a quick shotgun blast or a fast melee swing, then move on. On your right is a furnished apartment. Walk through to the bedroom and into the bathroom behind it. The Tuxedo sits by the tub with a corpse. Hold E to equip or tap E to stash it.

Don’t leave yet. In this same run you can grab the Maintenance Keycard on the front room desk and the Firefighter Axe in a propped case down the hall. Check the work area for printer resin and use the 3D Printer to make arrows, a flask, or Tech Mesh if you’re not planning to return. One more small recommendation: smash any laptop you see for circuit boards.

Two quick notes that help first-timers. The dig site sits between two active tribes, so scan the treeline before you start shovelling. Inside, keep a torch or flashlight ready, since visibility drops fast in the utility rooms. If you’re following a full progression route, we’ve already covered Keycard locations separately, so you can slot this run neatly into that sequence.

If you want to dress Kelvin in the Tuxedo, open his command notebook, hand him the suit, and he’ll wear it immediately. It doesn’t change his stats, but it does make base life feel a bit less grim.
