The Revolver is one of the strongest sidearms in Sons of the Forest, and getting it early makes fights against cannibals and mutants far easier. I always rush it once I have the gear, because as the days pass enemies toughen up and caves become less forgiving. Knowing the route saves time and resources.
To reach the bunker that holds the weapon, you need three essentials: the Shovel, Rope Gun, and Rebreather. The Rope Gun and Rebreather are both found in caves on the northwest side of the island, and you should grab them first because they are required to get the Shovel.
Caves are dark and packed with fast mutants, so bring explosives or a strong weapon. Stock up on cooked meat, drinks, and a flask for water, since supplies underground are limited. If you are new to cave runs, the Rebreather cave is the shortest and a good starting point.
With the kit ready, head northeast of the mountain. Use your GPS to follow the pulsing green marker in that area. Do not climb the mountain, go around it instead. You will find a clearing with broken golf carts and digging gear. A shovel icon appears between them, marking where to dig. Clear the soil to reveal the Maintenance C hatch.
Go down and follow the hallway. There are two rooms. The room at the far end has supplies. The first door on the right is half finished with a dead worker by a ladder. The Revolver is on the floor next to him.
The Revolver fires 9mm ammo like the Pistol, but its base damage is 112, compared to the Pistol at 70. Most cannibals drop in one or two shots, and you can sever limbs with clean hits. The drawback is upgrades. Unlike the Pistol, the Revolver cannot take attachments. No laser sight, no suppressor, and no flashlight, just raw stopping power.
Ammo is scattered across the island. Check crates, bodies, camps, and especially red and black ammo cases, which often hold bullets and explosives.
Loot respawns after a couple of in-game days, so revisit hotspots to restock. Hold R to reload, and right-click to fire. If you prefer to keep the Revolver for yourself, give Virginia the Pistol or Shotgun. She has unlimited ammo and will fire when threats get close.
