Key Highlights:

  • Marvel’s Wolverine can now be wishlisted on the PlayStation Store.
  • Developed by Insomniac Games, it targets a Fall 2026 launch, likely around October.
  • Gameplay teases point to a mature, violent tone far removed from Spider-Man’s style.

After years of speculation, Marvel’s Wolverine finally feels within reach. Following its State of Play trailer reveal last month, PlayStation fans can now officially wishlist the game on the PlayStation Store, a small but meaningful milestone that signals real progress.

For a project first announced back in 2021, this update makes the long wait feel worthwhile.

Insomniac’s reputation with superhero titles needs little introduction. After the success of Marvel’s Spider-Man and its critically acclaimed sequel, expectations for Wolverine are sky-high, but this is a very different beast. The trailer made that clear immediately. Logan’s world is darker, bloodier, and far more grounded in grit than the bright skyline of Manhattan.

If Spider-Man celebrated heroism, Wolverine looks ready to revel in raw survival.

From what’s been confirmed, the game is currently slated for a Fall 2026 release window, placing it well clear of GTA 6 and in the same seasonal slot Insomniac used for both Spider-Man entries.

It’s safe to assume an October target, which gives the team breathing room for final polish while still hitting that familiar autumn showcase period. The listing itself doesn’t include much yet, just a brief synopsis and the new wishlist option, but it’s the strongest sign yet that the studio is entering the final phase of production.

Liam McIntyre has been confirmed as the voice and motion capture lead for Logan, which is an interesting choice considering Hugh Jackman’s long cinematic legacy with the role. McIntyre’s take appears more rugged and internalised, closer to the comics’ wandering anti-hero than the stoic veteran we’ve seen on film.

Insomniac seems intent on building their own definitive version of Wolverine rather than relying on nostalgia, which is exactly what this character needs.

There’s still a lot that hasn’t been shown, but the tone alone says plenty. The first trailer’s bar fight scene, complete with claws, blood, and broken glass, made one thing clear: this is not an all-ages Marvel title.

Based on what was shown, I’d say the Mature rating is practically guaranteed, giving Insomniac space to tell a story without restraint. That could mean harsher combat, more emotional stakes, and perhaps the kind of internal conflict that defines Logan at his best.

As for when we’ll hear more, Insomniac previously mentioned a larger update in the spring, but I wouldn’t rule out a teaser at The Game Awards in December. It fits their pattern: showcase, silence, then a surprise trailer drop right when anticipation peaks.

After that, a deeper look at gameplay and story details could land next year at a PlayStation Showcase, particularly as Sony begins setting the stage for PS6, expected in 2027. Wolverine might even become the bridge title between generations if that schedule holds true.

This is of course, just speculation on my part, but there’s obviously method to the madness so to speak.

There’s plenty still hidden, including possible story DLC, alternate costumes, and which villains will make the cut, but the fact that players can finally wishlist Marvel’s Wolverine makes it all feel more tangible.

For those of us who’ve followed every snippet since that 2021 teaser, it’s satisfying to see Insomniac moving confidently toward the finish line. The claws are out, and by the looks of it, we’re in for something truly feral when Marvel’s Wolverine finally drops.
