Key Highlights:
- PlayStation’s 60-second Be Greater Together cinematic trailer shows Peter Parker and Miles Morales fighting Venom.
- Both Spider-Men initially struggle against the symbiote villain before combining their efforts.
- The CGI trailer focuses on the heroes’ personal doubts and partnership rather than revealing new gameplay.
PlayStation has released a new 60-second cinematic trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, showing Peter Parker and Miles Morales joining forces against Venom. Titled Be Greater. Together., the CGI advertisement aired during Monday Night Football on October 2, ahead of the PS5 game’s October 20 release.
The trailer opens with both Spider-Men confronting the enormous symbiote villain in New York City. Venom proves difficult to overcome, overpowering the heroes as they struggle to gain the advantage.
Rather than focusing entirely on the battle, the footage explores Peter and Miles’ doubts about their responsibilities as Spider-Man. Their personal struggles are presented alongside the confrontation, before both heroes regain their determination and attack Venom together.
What stands out to me is that the trailer sells their partnership as more than a combat advantage. Peter and Miles each carry personal burdens, and the advertisement suggests that supporting one another will be just as important as defeating the game’s villains.
The footage is entirely cinematic, so its choreography and visuals should not be mistaken for playable combat or a confirmed boss encounter.
However, the partnership reflects what Insomniac has already demonstrated in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s character-switching gameplay. Players can switch between Peter and Miles while exploring New York, although certain story missions require a particular Spider-Man.
The two heroes also possess different abilities. Peter can use mechanical Spider-Arms and symbiote powers, while Miles brings his bioelectric attacks, including newly evolved abilities. Those differences give each character a distinct role in combat.
Venom remains the trailer’s central threat. Insomniac has previously explained that its interpretation of the character will tell a different story from familiar comic book versions, while the symbiote’s influence threatens Peter’s relationships and his judgement.
The earlier Venom confrontation footage also emphasised the villain’s size and strength against both Spider-Men.
For now, Be Greater. Together. reinforces the sequel’s central premise without revealing how the confrontation will unfold during the game.
Later update: The released game develops the partnership into an essential part of defeating Venom. Peter and Miles face challenges that test their trust in one another, with their different abilities and shared determination playing a central role in the story’s conclusion. The trailer’s message of being greater together ultimately reflects one of the sequel’s defining themes.
