Where to Get the Egg Hunt Request
After defeating Del Lago, steer the boat into the Mural Cave and step onto the small landing area. The Blue Request Note is fixed to the wall on the right side of the exit tunnel, beside the boat mooring point. Interact with it to activate the Egg Hunt request and add it to the log. Once collected, Leon is free to check the lake for a Golden Chicken Egg at any point before progressing the story.
How to Reach the Golden Chicken Egg Location
With the request secured, Leon needs to sail his boat across the expansive lake towards a small dock at the eastern edge, often obscured in darkness. Consult the map below for the exact position marked with the ship icon. Navigate Leon there to find a quiet cove filled with clucking chickens and stacked crates.
The sparkling Golden Chicken Egg itself rests behind some large debris along the back wall. Weave between gaps in the boxes and material piles clustered all around the cramped area. It will be quite difficult to see in the rain and darkness. Once spotted, pick up the egg to officially finish the lucrative job for the Merchant.
But before departing entirely from this out-of-the-way corner of the map, also loot the blue Velvet Treasure gem hidden inside a barrel along the north side for some supplemental Pesetas to spend.
IMPORTANT: You must complete Egg Hunt before the end of Chapter 5. The point of no return is crossing the rope bridge from the Farm towards the extraction point after rescuing Ashley. Make sure the Golden Chicken Egg is collected and the request is handed in before leaving the lake region.
Cashing in the Golden Egg
Once the egg is secured, return to any Merchant stall. The nearest is reached by sailing back towards the Quarry, then climbing to the Merchant’s usual position above the dock. Trade the Gold Chicken Egg to complete the request and earn:
- 9,000 Pesetas
- 3 Spinels
Spinels can then be spent on treasure maps, weapon upgrades, and other exclusive Merchant items that cannot be bought with standard currency.
Does Another Golden Egg Exist in RE4 Remake?
Yes, there is a second Golden Chicken Egg later in the Castle’s Throne Room in Chapter 12, obtained from an Ornate Box using the Cubic Device. If you missed the lake egg, you can still use this one to finish Egg Hunt, but it is also tied to The Disgrace of the Salazar Family request.
Egg Hunt is one of the quickest Merchant Requests in RE4 Remake and offers excellent early-game rewards. Completing it during Chapter 4 is ideal because players naturally pass the lake areas while progressing the main story. Make sure to grab the egg before advancing, as this request expires once you cross the rope bridge after rescuing Ashley.
