Key Highlights:

  • Friday the 13th: The Game may be returning after rights issues sidelined it.
  • Striker Entertainment now oversees Jason Universe, including the original game.
  • Gun Interactive’s shift from Texas Chainsaw Massacre hints at possible involvement.

Friday the 13th: The Game could be making a surprise return, years after it was forced offline due to long-standing legal complications.

In a newly announced partnership, Striker Entertainment has joined forces with Horror Inc. to manage global products for Jason Universe, the broader branding initiative tied to the iconic Friday the 13th franchise.

Notably, this new effort explicitly references Friday the 13th: The Game, suggesting a revival or reboot may be on the horizon.

For years, the multiplayer survival horror game gave fans a way to live out their slasher fantasies, playing either as terrified camp counsellors trying to escape or as Jason Voorhees himself.

But legal disputes between franchise creators meant the title was pulled from storefronts and, eventually, the servers were taken offline.

Fans thought that was the end. But now, the situation has changed.

According to a press release from Striker Entertainment, Friday the 13th: The Game isn’t just being acknowledged, it’s part of the strategy to revitalise the franchise.

The initiative includes not just merchandise, shows, and new adaptations, but also a renewed focus on video game experiences tied to the franchise’s legacy.

This confirms that discussions about the game’s future are taking place at the highest level.

While details remain vague, one key quote from the announcement offers clarity: the game is part of efforts to give “fans new ways to connect with the legacy of Jason Voorhees.” This isn’t a throwaway mention; it points to intent and planning.

Gun Interactive May Be Back on the Project

One of the more intriguing developments is the timing. Gun Interactive, the original publisher of Friday the 13th: The Game, recently announced the final update for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, another asymmetrical horror title.

It’s staying online, but all development has ceased. This move opens up Gun’s production schedule, and it comes just as renewed activity around Friday the 13th begins to take shape.

The pieces align: Gun already has experience with the brand, the community, and the game design.

With the rights seemingly cleared under the Jason Universe banner, it’s plausible that Gun is being given another shot at refining or relaunching the beloved title.

Adding further weight to the speculation is a report from CineStealth claiming that not one, but two Friday the 13th games are in development, one multiplayer and one single-player.

This could indicate a reboot of the original game along with a new, possibly narrative-driven experience.

Additionally, franchise composer Harry Manfredini previously confirmed he was working on music for a new Friday the 13th game.

That project was believed to be separate from Gun’s original effort. If both are still in progress, players may be looking at an upcoming era where multiple Friday the 13th experiences coexist under the same brand umbrella.

This isn’t just about bringing back an old game.

If Gun Interactive is back, players can expect improvements rooted in hard-earned experience. If a second studio is developing a more traditional horror experience, then the franchise may finally deliver the diversity of gameplay styles it has long deserved.

June 2025 will mark another Friday the 13th, a date that’s often used to announce or launch franchise news.

While there’s no confirmation yet, many believe this could be when we learn more about what Horror Inc. have planned for the future.

Whether it’s a remaster, full remake, or entirely new entry, Friday the 13th: The Game is no longer buried in the woods. Jason may be sharpening his machete once more – and this time, he’s coming back with a vengeance.
