New Fan-Made DLC Stage Turns Mortal Kombat 1 Into a Fast-Food Brawl

A scene from MK1 set in an urban street featuring fast-food restaurants like McDonald's and Taco Bell in the background.

Key Highlights:

  • Fan-made “McDonald Taco Bell Expressway” DLC stage adds chaotic humour and new interactions.
  • Players can toss opponents through a McDonald’s window into fryer grease.
  • Mod is unofficial, and not part of the main Mortal Kombat 1 game.

A new modded stage called the “McDonald Taco Bell Expressway” is making waves in the Mortal Kombat 1 community for its over-the-top humour and fast-food chaos.

Created by Reddit user Fun_Sympathy_6116 and showcased online, this unofficial DLC has quickly become a viral talking point thanks to its absurd stage design, interactive elements, and strong reactions from players.

Instead of the usual hellscapes or ancient arenas, the new battleground throws fighters into a chaotic hybrid of a McDonald’s drive-thru, Taco Bell counters, and a traffic-clogged expressway.

The video shared showcases Reptile in a fight with Kung Lao in the ultimate fast-food themed stage. There’s even a moment where Frost assists Reptile via a Kameo appearance, and you see the mountains in the background.

According to the mod’s creator, players can’t hurl their opponent into oncoming traffic, but they can launch them through the McDonald’s service window directly into a vat of french fry grease.

The mod’s attention to detail doesn’t stop there. Mod creator Fun_Sympathy_6116 claims players can enter the restaurant and attempt to restore health by grabbing an ice cream – though one user cheekily notes, “the machine is broken.”

Others joked about the lack of stage fatalities and questioned the absence of a Waffle House, while some praised the mod for capturing the chaotic energy of real-life late-night brawls.

The reception has been overwhelmingly positive, with players calling it “better than the devs’ official content” and urging NetherRealm Studios to rethink its stage design.

I don’t think the developers will be hearing their please however, as MK1 officially ended support for the fighting title at the back end of May.

The mod seems to tap into the same comedic surrealism fans associate with American franchise culture, complete with nods to Mortal Kombat lore and modern meme culture.

While not an official addition to the game, this mod highlights the creative enthusiasm of the MK community and continues the trend of fans elevating the experience through DIY content that resonates with both humour and authenticity.
