FF16 Demo Update Version 1.01
This demo recently received its first update, version 1.01, which addresses several issues reported by players.
The update focuses on improving the quality of upscaling technologies, including NVIDIA’s DLSS, AMD’s FSR, and Intel’s XeSS. Specific improvements include:
- Alleviating pixelation issues with FSR
- Mitigating graphical glitches such as blurring when using XeSS or DLSS
- Fixing dynamic resolution being locked on the lowest setting
- Addressing GPU crashes and sound effect bugs
Square Enix has also acknowledged reports of stuttering on certain PC configurations and is currently investigating the issue.
DLC Chapters and Edition Details
For the full game release, players will have the option to purchase the Standard Edition or the Complete Edition.
The latter includes two DLC chapters: “Echoes of the Fallen” and “The Rising Tide.” These expansions will introduce new story content, battles, weapons, and increase the level cap.
Echoes of the Fallen takes place before the base game’s final battle, involving an investigation into strange dark crystals circulating on the black market. The Rising Tide adds a new area in the hidden land of Mysidia and features battles against the water Eikon, Leviathan.
The PC version’s release marks an important step for Square Enix, with company officials hinting at the possibility of future Final Fantasy titles seeing simultaneous PC and console releases.
This demo serves as a testing ground for performance optimisations. Players interested in trying it out can download it now from Steam or the Epic Games Store, with save data carrying over to the full game upon release.
